Khala Communities is a specialist Advice, Training and Careers Hub for recently re-settled forced migrant individuals and their families.
We imagine a future where newly resettled forced migrants are afforded the care and opportunity to rebuild their lives within our society, whilst embracing what they have brought with them in their journeys.
We build supportive structures for newly resettled forced migrant residents in the UK that fosters inclusion and representation at all levels. Opportunities will be created to access advice, training, financial support and careers, which will be achieved through working with local London councils and socially progressive corporate partners. We will create fair and equitable opportunities for stable and thriving careers that are centred on experience and choice.
The current welfare system, asylum system and general societal structures are not conducive to supporting newly resettled forced migrants. Khala will be there for individuals at that crucial stage in their journey, where support drops off, in the hopes of guiding them through this challenging time. We hope to influence positive changes to the current isolating and disempowering systems, that empowers the individual to prepare for the next stage of their life in the UK. Many believe the asylum system ends when an individual receives their right to remain in the UK, but the current system continues to affect people for months or years after they gain their status.
